Mixer Showers
These showers function in the same basic was as mixer taps do; they combine hot and cold water from the respective taps into a single stream, enabling the user to control the stream temperature.

The hot water tap usually runs off a hot water tank; if that tank drains completely, it then needs to be allowed to refill before shower can be used again. However, some showers can run off a Combi boiler, provided that the mains pressure is high enough.
